Line drawings of New York by ROBINSON (Werner Kruse, 1967)

German illustrator Werner Kruse (pen name ROBINSON) first published this truly astonishing collection of pen and ink drawings of New York City in 1967. Detailing the city’s skyscrapers and neighbourhoods in breathtaking detail, ROBINSON, who compares his drawings to x-rays which show the city and its buildings inside and out, visited the Big Apple in the early 1960s before documenting his trip with the same meticulous detail that he used for similar books about Berlin, Paris and Tokyo. The drawings were reissued in 2009 by Universe Publishing in a collection called New York: Line by Line, From Broadway to the Battery.
